Arriving for Your Sailing Intensive
If you're joining me from out of town, your destination will be Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). It's conveniently located and offers several options for getting to the Sail & Ski Yacht Club and Marina.
Getting to the Marina from Austin Airport (AUS)
- Rideshare: Both Lyft and Uber provide reliable service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport directly to the Sail & Ski Marina.
- Rental Car: If you prefer to drive, rental car services are readily available at the airport. You can park your car at the marina for free during your sailing intensive.
Driving Directions to Sail & Ski Yacht Club and Marina (from AUS)
- From Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), head south on Presidential Blvd.
- Turn left onto TX-71 W / US-290 W (signs for US-290 W/Johnson City).
- Continue on TX-71 W for approximately 18-20 miles.
- Take the exit toward Lakeway/RM 620 N.
- Merge onto Ranch Rd 620 N.
- Continue on Ranch Road 620 N for about 3-4 miles to Stewart Road (turn left)
- The Sail & Ski Yacht Club and Marina will be on your right-hand side (look for the signs) at the end of Stewart Road.

Travel Itinerary
Day 1 - Embarkation 1:00 PM - Getting Started and Settling In.
Embarkation at 1:00PM, Sail and Ski Marina (16406 Stewart Rd, Austin, TX 78734)
We’ll kick off your instruction right at the marina. Our first task will be a thorough boat briefing, getting you comfortable with all systems onboard my Pearson 27.
Then, we’ll throw off the lines to spend time reviewing and practicing essential under-power skills right in the marina. Last but not least, we’ll then go through a provisioning plan with a trip to the local grocery store.
You have the option to stay on the boat overnight at the marina, with convenient access to showers and a restaurant on-site.
Day 2 - Sailing to the Sometimes Islands.
We’ll untie from the dock and head out into the open water! Today is all about getting hands-on with the sails.
We’ll spend the day practicing various points of sail, honing your navigation skills, and mastering anchoring for our lunch stop.
You’ll learn about rules of the road as we navigate other boat traffic, and we’ll develop a daily sail plan together. As evening approaches, we’ll find our perfect spot at anchor off the scenic Sometimes Islands.
We’ll make supper aboard and spend a magical night under the stars on the boat.
Day 3 - Disembarkation 4:00PM (or earlier if needed) - Return to Marina & Celebration.
We’ll start our final day with breakfast on anchor, enjoying the tranquility of the lake. We’ll then plan our sail back to the marina, aiming to arrive by late afternoon.
If time allows and you’re up for it, we can cap off our incredible journey with a celebratory dinner at Captain Pete’s before heading back to the boat to secure her and disembark.

Tour Terms & Conditions
I want to ensure your sailing intensive is a smooth and enjoyable experience from start to finish. Please review these important details regarding your booking:
Reservations and Payments
All reservations must be confirmed directly with me to secure your dates. In the rare event of a scheduling conflict on my end, I'll work closely with you to find another suitable date.
Payments and Refunds
- For full payments: Once full payment is received, no refunds are offered. However, you may reschedule your intensive at no additional charge for a future date.
- For deposits: If you've paid a deposit and need to cancel, your payment can be applied as a credit towards a future trip or training session(s). Deposits are only refundable if you cancel at least 30 days prior to your scheduled embarkation date.
Safety and Equipment
Your safety on the water is my top priority.
- Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs): Auto-inflate PFDs are supplied for your use and are required to be worn in any inclement weather conditions or when I deem it necessary for safety.
- Required Waiver: For your safety and my own, a signed liability waiver is required from all participants prior to embarking on your sailing intensive. I'll provide this document to you with your booking confirmation.
Rescheduling by Sails & Grace (Me)
- Weather-Related Rescheduling: Sailing safely is paramount. In the event of inclement weather (e.g., strong winds, storms, unsafe conditions) that makes sailing impractical or unsafe, I reserve the right to reschedule your intensive. We will work together to find an alternative date that suits both our schedules. No additional charges will apply for weather-related reschedules.
- Personal Emergency Rescheduling: While rare, in the unforeseen event that I must reschedule due to a personal emergency, I will notify you as soon as possible and offer alternative dates or a full refund if no suitable dates can be found.
Participant Responsibility
- Health and Fitness: Participants should be in general good health and physical condition, able to comfortably move around a sailboat. Please inform me of any medical conditions that might affect your participation.
- Adherence to Instructions: For your safety and the safety of the vessel, all participants must comply with my instructions and safety guidelines at all times.
