Ready to dip your toes into the world of sailing? The Discovery Sail is the perfect first step.

This 3-hour, hands-on sailing experience is designed for complete beginners and curious newcomers who want to try sailing, not sit through a lecture. From the moment we leave the dock, you’ll be involved—steering the boat, trimming sails, learning basic commands, and getting a feel for how wind and water work together.

It will only be you and I (you can add a guest), so you’ll get plenty of personal coaching, real-time feedback, and time at the helm. The vibe is relaxed, encouraging, and fun—perfect for learning without pressure.

Along the way, we’ll cover essential safety basics like simple knots, situational awareness, weather considerations, and what to do if things don’t go as planned—all woven naturally into the experience. And of course, you’ll soak up the beauty of Lake Travis, enjoy being on the water, and maybe even spot some local wildlife.

This experience is ideal if you’re exploring a new hobby, planning a unique date or outing, or simply want to understand what all the sailing excitement is about. No experience required—just curiosity and a willingness to try something new.

Optional Learning Boost: If you’d like to deepen the experience, I recommend the NauticEd Intro to Sailing online course. It takes about three hours and pairs beautifully with our on-the-water time, allowing us to bring key concepts to life during your sail.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing (layers are great)

  • Non-marking, soft-soled shoes

  • Sunglasses, hat, sunscreen

  • Refillable water bottle

  • Optional: auto-inflate PFD, light jacket, camera, or notebook

Provided: Water, light snacks, safety gear, and a welcoming, judgment-free learning environment.

Who It’s For: Anyone new to sailing, curious adventurers, couples, or anyone looking for a low-commitment way to experience life under sail.

You’ll leave with new skills, fresh confidence, and a pretty good sense of whether sailing is calling your name.
